Description

Day 4

Entry 1
This is a rather startling discovery...After the encounter with the enormous Pterasaur, I decided to continue my search to the south of my compound. I managed to complete a wide area and managed to find another village in a savanna (lots of horses too). I decided to turn back for home once I found a roofed forest - it seemed to be a natural stopping point to get my new pack of dogs and my horse home as well. I was inclined to travel over the ocean, using a trio of leads on my animals...

And then I heard it...

The roar of the beast sounded out again...but this one was different...It sounded oddly deeper and even older in a strange way. But also much calmer...not nearly as aggressive. I steered toward the nearby cliff-side...and that's when I saw it. The beast was indeed here...But it couldn't be the same creature. I was initially startled...I had assumed that the Beast was a fluke; I didn't imagine that there was an emerging species with these creatures...How many of them could there be?

I then noticed something strange about this creature...it was so different from the one I found near my home. The glowing red patches of skin were not present. It's dorsal plates were silver instead of black. This one gives off no radiation poisoning effect. And so far, it just seems to "mind" me while not being all that hostile...
What could this mean? A different species of the same genus? A different genus of the same family? A different sex perhaps? Maybe the red glow on the other one is a sign of male plumage like in birds or some types of dinosaurs? And then I had a troubling thought about the possibility of these creatures breeding...

Perhaps with this creature being less hostile than the beast near my home, there may be a chance to further investigate this animal in the hopes of discovering a potential weakness. Or maybe if this creature is non-hostile, there could be a slim chance of benevolence to it. Maybe if I interact with these creatures, I could find a method of communicating with them...perhaps even tame one of them.

But for now...I take solace in the fact that the two creatures are too far away from each other to interact or mate with one another...

Entry 2
Well that theory is immediately shot in the ass...

I returned to my boat and followed the mountain range, trying to find home...I discover a section of land that connects to the Taiga forest just South West of my place...when I hear the equally loud, but blood-curdling "shriek"...Something is in pain.
So I followed the sound up the mountain to get a better look, only to be absolutely horrified by what I saw...

There is not one...but three creatures...
Counting the one near my house - which is alarmingly close to this area - that makes a total of four...
And what's worse is, these seem to be the much more aggressive burnt variety of the species.
This species must already be far too outside the parameters of reasonable control...I can't stop them...
I have now begun to realize that the notions that I once accounted myself to in other worlds are utterly meaningless here...completely rendered moot, as my life become inconsequential...This doesn't belong to me...it belongs to them...And I am utterly powerless to take it back from them...

...But there may be a hope yet...As I noted the sound that lead me here...was one of the creatures in pain.
I can clearly see it now...two individuals are fighting. What are they fighting for? Territory? A Dominance display? I cannot say for sure.
One seems to be overpowering the other. My jaw is dropping from the raw power on display here. The most amazing thing occurred. The creature has opened its mouth and a beam of focused radioactive energy has been released. Incredible; I had no idea these monsters were capable of projectile based weaponry...This will make defeating them more difficult, and their range much exceeds anything I could hope to match...
This one attack has caused explosions and set fire to the landscape; its spread is that of 1000 Ghast Fireballs...

As I mentioned...this was good news for me; or at least hopeful news...If the monsters will fight each other, than my plan can still be put into motion...If two creatures fight each other, than one or both of them might be killed, allowing me to inspect their remains. It seems to be my best chance at this point.

I see now that the third creature is converging on the warring two; now all three creatures are joining the fight. This may be the opportunity that I've been waiting on. I set up base camp on a nearby plateau and wait for the match to conclude...

Entry 3
I have been here for several hours and it is already nightfall...The creatures seem to have lost interest in fighting each other, and not one of them displays any sign of fatigue or sustaining any lasting damage...I will need to adjust my plans accordingly. because based on this...the creatures may have the ability to repair damage.

There's no point in staying here...So I take-down my shelter and begin moving around the creatures, hoping not to alert them to my pressence.
