"Mechagodzilla."

--

Metal from Space, Planet of the Apes swallowed by a black hole, and an ancient prophesy of the Azumi royal family… What do all of these things have in common? They are all tied into Godzilla’s next adventure.

Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, near the ruins of Monster Island, a giant awakened. Underneath the water, the creature moved through the once great caverns of the destroyed island. It began swimming near the ocean floor toward Japan. It was near Mt. Fuji, and was slowly crawling up to the surface while it continued to roar. However, at that time, there was a strange light coming from Mt. Fuji. Several explosions ensued afterwards. No one knew what to make of this.

The next day in Okinawa, a girl (she and her grandfather direct descendants of the Azumi royal family.) had a terrible vision. She claimed that a monster would arise and destroy everything in its path. Her grandfather was perplexed by her sudden vision.

Later that day, two brothers, who witnessed her vision, split ways. The older brother, Shimizu, an engineer was on his way to work, while his younger brother, Masako, went spelunking in a cave. The latter of the two, found a strange piece of metal during his exploration. The other brother was working on a construction project when his team uncovered a cave.
While trying to keep the media out, an archaeologist soon arrived to check out the cave. She and Shimizu went into the cave and found strange cave paintings that depicted a prophesy as well as a statue of the legendary Guardian of Okinawa, King Caesar.

She deciphered as much of the legend as she could.

“When a Black Mountain appears above the clouds, a huge monster will arise to destroy the World…But when the Red Moons sets and the Sun Rises West, two monsters will arrive to save the People.”

The statue of King Caesar was the key to this puzzle, but she couldn’t decipher where to place the statue when the Sun rises in the West. She decided to go to Tokyo to meet with Professor Wagura, who could decipher it. She boarded a plane and by an extraordinary stroke of luck, Shimizu was going to Tokyo to meet up with his brother who had gone to Tokyo before him. She told him her purpose about the reason why she was headed for Tokyo. Their conversation was overheard by a Free Lance reporter who was looking to make a scoop and wanted to know more of their story, but he seemed to return to his own business after revealing his intentions.

However, the attention of the entire plane was drawn by commotion outside. When they had passed into Tokyo, there was a black volcanic smoke rising from Mt. Fuji. The smoke cloud rising into the sky looked like a Black Mountain. This greatly troubled the two aboard the plane. It seemed to be an extraordinary coincidence.

When they arrived at the Professor Wagura’s house, it was revealed that Shimizu was his nephew. He began to decipher the inscriptions on the King Caesar statue, while Masako was visiting Professor Miyajima. The professor could tell him about the metal he found. It was Space Titanium. Almost immediately after that discovery had been made, one of many several earthquakes occurred. It was almost as if something was moving under the ground causing the earthquakes.

That night, a mysterious being attempted to steal the statue. But he ran off after failing and disappeared. The next day more explosions came from Mt. Fuji. The volcano wasn’t erupting. The explosions seemed to be caused by bombs. Then there was a bright flash of light and out of the mountain appeared Godzilla!!! Yet it was strange. His movements were stiff and he was making strange sounds. Godzilla began destroying anything in his path. After 20 years since his first appearance, just when Godzilla seemed to be a dependable hero of earth, he was back to his old ways again. It seemed that Godzilla was the monster predicted to appear after the Black Mountain. And now he would go unchecked across the world, destroying everything, with nothing to stand in his way. But surprisingly an old face rose up in challenge of Godzilla’s path.

A mound of dirt rose out of the ground. Godzilla stepped on it and tripped. Then rising out of the ground appeared ANGUIRUS!!! Anguirus was still alive after all of this time! Upon turning to see the other monster, Anguirus was clearly overjoyed at the sight of his friend Godzilla and playfully leapt towards him. However, Godzilla kicked Anguirus away. And the kick was powerful, sending Anguirus flying away. Then Godzilla continued to attack, kicking Anguirus around, while showing nearly no emotions. Anguirus, obviously tired of being hit and not about to let his friend beat him up, leapt towards Godzilla again. His spikes scraped Godzilla’s arm.

When Anguirus landed, he turned around. He was shocked when he saw Godzilla. The attack scrapped a piece of Godzilla’s flesh off his arm. Then underneath his skin was not blood, but a shining layer of metal. Another thing Anguirus observed was that before, when there was clear communication between Godzilla and Anguirus, Godzilla wasn’t answering any of Anguirus’s roars. And Godzilla wasn’t showing any emotions either. Anguirus then realized the truth…This wasn’t Godzilla! It was some sort of imposter, and now it was ready to fight. Anguirus knew that he didn’t stand a chance against the real Godzilla and this new Godzilla seemed to be even stronger. But Anguirus never turned away from a fight.

He stormed toward the imposter and tried to attack. But it seemed more like a beat-down rather than a fight. Anguirus didn’t stand a chance. Godzilla lifted Anguirus by his tail and slammed him down over and over again and then kicked him. Then, showing no emotions at all, Godzilla grabbed Anguirus’ mouth and ripped his jaw out, tearing apart his cheeks. However, Godzilla left Anguirus alive. Anguirus managed to escape, fleeing back into the hole. Where he went was anyone’s guess, he was monitored as he fled. Meanwhile, Godzilla went back to destroying everything in his path.

Anguirus fled into the ocean and went to an island. His pursuers followed in a Helicopter. When they finally hovered over the island they saw Anguirus come ashore. They couldn’t believe what they just saw.

Godzilla moved onto Tokyo’s industrial area and began destroying the city. However, more abnormalities were noticed in Godzilla. He was breathing regular fire like a flamethrower. Godzilla’s fire breath was blue…what had changed in him.

Then Godzilla came across a large warehouse and hesitated. From what we monitored during the situation, we detected a massive spike on the Geiger-Counter. There was a huge amount of Radioactivity in the area…but before there wasn’t. Godzilla wasn’t radioactive?!

Godzilla then moved toward the building to destroy it. However, a strangely familiar blue light caused by radioactivity shined from inside. Then the roof of the building broke open and rising out of the building was…GODZILLA?! Yes, another Godzilla appeared! This one however was roaring like Godzilla usually did. Regardless, the Godzilla causing the destruction attacked the second Godzilla.

It was quite a sight to see. Two Godzillas, fighting each other. It was almost like two gods at war with each other. The idea of there being another Godzilla terrified everyone who saw it. It didn’t seem possible. One Godzilla was the original, but the other one couldn’t be a fully grown Minya; Godzilla’s son was a friendly creature, and he seemed to stop grown past his childlike size, making many experts believe he was a sub-species of Godzilla called a Godzillasaur. Regardless the two Godzilla’s were fighting. And the people had not seen or knew what Anguirus knew…but regardless, no one knew where the second Godzilla had come from.

From the people watching on the side, the Godzilla from Mt. Fuji (left) shot red fire at the Second Godzilla (right). Then the second Godzilla stormed at his opponent. They began flinging buildings at each other. The second Godzilla then scratched the Mt. Fuji Godzilla’s arm, close to where Anguirus had struck him. This tear in his arm was much bigger and revealed even more metal underneath. It soon became clear to Miyajima, but it seemed impossible.

“The one that came out of Mt. Fuji is a Cyborg. It is made out of the Space Metal. You could call it a Mechagodzilla.”

He knew the metal was Space Titanium because Shimizu had found a rather large chunk of the material in the area where Anguirus had battled the creature. It seemed to be a possibility.

As they kept fighting, the second Godzilla also took out the Mt. Fuji Godzilla’s eye, revealing a red glowing layer of glass underneath. Then the second Godzilla shot a ray of Blue Radioactive fire at the Mt. Fuji Godzilla, proving once and for all that he was the real Godzilla.

Suddenly everything made sense. Anguirus realized that the monster he fought wasn’t Godzilla. He then found the REAL Godzilla in the ocean and told him about the imposter. That’s why Godzilla burrowed into the city. And it was quite clear that Godzilla was very angry with the condition his friend was in after learning that Anguirus was alive after all this time.

When the blast made contact, the Mt. Fuji Godzilla’s metal chest was exposed. It seemed that the monster was indeed a robot. But then, it stopped moving. A moment later, the fake Godzilla’s body glowed with an unnatural fire and a bright light. When the flames died down, a gigantic Robotic Godzilla was left standing in place. It truly was a Mechagodzilla, and it looked quite fearsome.

Mechagodzilla lifted his harms and shot his rocket-like fingers toward Godzilla, knocking the Monster King down immediately. Then while on the ground, Mechagodzilla shot two beautiful but deadly, rainbow colored lasers from his eyes. Godzilla was able to dodge and get up however. Mechagodzilla tried firing the lasers again but Godzilla countered with his Atomic breath. When the two beams made contact, it created an explosion so great, that it knocked Godzilla into the sea. Then much to the dismay of the people who witnessed all of this, all that bubbled to the surface, was a large stain of red…Blood…Godzilla’s blood. Godzilla was dead. Fortunately, Mechagodzilla was damaged by the blast as well and forced to retreat to wherever it came from. It flew so fast that no one was able to fully monitor it and track it down to its hiding place.

When news of the events in Tokyo reached America, the American’s were awestruck. They had now made it into a habit of betting on Godzilla to be the victor of the outcome of these fights, but never did they suspect that Godzilla would eventually fight another of his kind. And a mechanical one at that. But when word reached them that Godzilla not only lost but had died. It was too terrible to fathom.

“GODZILLA DEAD!!!”

“Bionic Monster slays the Monster King! Godzilla victim of his Mechanical Clone.”

Needless to say, something had to be done. What was this Mechagodzilla, where did it come from, why was it here, and what could they do to stop it when it returned?

Shimizu’s brother and the Professor Miyajima flew to Okinawa in the morning to check out the cave where the Space Titanium was found believing that to be Mechagodzilla’s hiding place. Shimizu and the Archaeologist went to Okinawa by sea with the King Caesar statue. They had finally deciphered the statue. They knew that the statue had to be place on the Shrine of the gate of Azumi Castle when the sun rises in the west. Even though it was impossible, the first prophecy had come true. Perhaps there would be a Westward Dawning, and they could summon King Caesar to fight Mechagodzilla. And if that happened, King Caesar would have another monster to help him. This was their only chance. But now the Statue was very important.

On the ship, the statue was stolen by the same man who came before. However, when Shimizu shot him in the face, the half that was shot mutated into a deformed kind of green gorilla. It seemed that this man was an Alien. He took the statue and ran out on deck with Shimizu following him. However, the alien got the gun and turned it on Shimizu forcing him to go to the railing of the ship. However, a shot from out of nowhere struck the Alien thief, forcing him to fall overboard…with the statue. Shimizu didn’t know who saved his life; however, the same Freelance reporter from the plane appeared smiling. Coincidence?

If there’s one thing worth mentioning about their trip on the boat it would be this. Their cruise ship had gone out into the Sea of Japan and was scheduled to turn back to Japan to Okinawa. However, on their trip out there, they avoided a rather large lightning storm. The people on the boat didn’t know it at the time, but the storm had blown over the remains of Monster Island.

There was something alive, crawling onto the remains of the island, half dead. It was a rather large creature. It crawled up onto the single remaining mountain. The highest point the creature could go. There, the creature was struck by lighting! It was struck over and over again. But then, the creature’s body began to glow with each strike. Then once the lightning stopped, its body began glowing on its own. Brighter and brighter, the blue glow grew. Then suddenly, while the creature roared, sparks of electricity began to shoot out its back in a fiery cavalcade of power.

Why have I told you this? Well, the reason will present itself later. All I will say for now is that while aboard the ship, the Archaeologist stated that she heard Godzilla. But Godzilla was dead…wasn’t he?

A bit of good news though. Shimizu had made a copy of the statue as a decoy. The decoy was stolen and he entrusted the REAL statue with the ship’s Captain, who locked it in the safe…but a bit of bad news. Masako, Dr. Miyajima and his daughter were captured in the cave by men in silver suits. They were taken deeper into the cave to an underground control base for the Space Men of the Third Planet of the Black-Hole Galaxy, but we’ve come to call them, the Simians.

Their home planet was slowly being swallowed into a large Black Hole. They built Mechagodzilla for their attempts to conquer the earth after carefully studying the real Godzilla. Seeming to learn from the Nebulan’s mistakes, they decided that the only thing to trump Godzilla was Godzilla himself. They overloaded their robot saurian with a shit-load of weaponry and ammunition. However, their circuitry was damaged and the repairs were going to take a long time. Headquarters would discover their mistake, and probably pull the project. That’s why they captured the professor.

Since he understood their technology, they wanted him to repair Mechagodzilla. He had to admit, the idea of Mechagodzilla made his mouth water. Never in a million years did he imagine that he would work on something like this. But he wasn’t going to do it for the destruction of mankind. Unfortunately, the Simians didn’t give him a choice. They took his daughter and Masako as hostages unless he complied…against his own will…he repaired Mechagodzilla’s circuits.

Mechagodzilla would be ready for action at 6 in the morning. The Commander and Chief of the Simians proposed a toast to the Return of Mechagodzilla. But the Professor refused to drink, ordering that he keep his promise to release Masako and his daughter from their custody. But he was thrown into their cell along with them. Inside, steam was sprayed from all the walls into the room. They were going to be scalded to death. Luckily, the trio managed to find a safe distance in the center of the room. But as the temperature increased, they would soon die from heat exhaustion.

Shimizu was worried about his brother and went to the cave to find them. He happened across Dr. Miyajima’s pipe when a Simian came across him at gunpoint. However, when he was about to be taken prisoner, the Simian was shot and attacked by the…Free Lance reporter? As it turns out, he was actually an Interpol Agent, Namara, who’d been following Shimizu. Interpol had been investigating the Simians. Now they held their captured Simian hostage and forced him to lead them to their secret base.

Showing them the passage into the base and saying the Secret Password to open the door, the Simian had served his purpose. He and another Simian were beaten up for their weapons and suits. Disguised as Simians, the two found Masako and the Professor and freed them right before the Professor’s daughter died. They all escaped the base and even managed to escape assassination from a bomb in their car, thanks to Namara. Shimizu replied that it was the third time Namara had saved his life, clearly figuring he saved him on the boat as well.

It was nearing morning and all could see a startling sight; the crescent moon was RED! Namara, Masako, and Miyajima volunteered to go back inside to destroy Mechagodzilla’s controls. Meanwhile, Shimizu and the professor’s daughter went back to the Archaeologist to fulfill the Prophesy. But luckily, Shimizu returned the Professor’s pipe to him.

They went to Azumi Castle before the dawn with the statue, while the three brave men snuck back into the base. Mimicking the password, they easily entered. However, when Shimizu and the two women arrived at the castle, two Simian’s were there holding the Old man and his granddaughter hostage. They forced them to give up the statue as collateral. But luckily, another Interpole Agent, Tamura, the partner of Namara appeared.

As the sun began to rise an even greater startling sight was seen. THE SUN WAS RISING IN THE WEST!!! But also in the East! It was a MIRAGE!!! They put the statue on the Shrine just like they were ordered. As the light from the mirage in the sky shined onto the statue, the two jeweled eyes began to glow. Two red laser beams shot toward a mountain out in the bay. They blew open a hole in the mountain. The smoke then cleared away to reveal King Caesar…but he was still asleep!

It was now 6 O’clock. Mechagodzilla was set loose with orders to destroy King Caesar while he was sleeping. But luckily, the Azumi descendants knew how to awaken him. Similar to how Mothra is awakened by the Shobijin, Caesar will only answer to a song sung by a direct descendant of the Azumi royal family. The old man’s granddaughter ran out to the beach and began to sing. She sang at the top of her lungs and as loud as she could. Mechagodzilla was getting closer. Still Caesar hadn’t woken up. She tried again, this time putting not only her voice or the breath in her lungs into the lyrics but her heart and soul as well.

When her song reached its climax, King Caesar’s jewel eyes began to glow. An explosion occurred and King Caesar rose out of the cave. Mechagodzilla attacked the monster with his laser beams. But surprisingly, King Caesar absorbed them into his own eyes and reflected them. He then tackled Mechagodzilla, but was force back. Mechagodzilla tried to shoot again, but his beams were reflected. When Caesar tackled again, Mechagodzilla went down. It seems that the monster did have a chance after all.

It was a battle that shook all of Okinawa. As Mechagodzilla tried to strike Caesar, the monster just ducked underneath the attack. When the robot attacked again, King Caesar grabbed his arm and threw him to the ground. Then he jumped on the robot and tried to slam his metal flesh. But he was thrown off. Mechagodzilla soon learned that his lasers did no good for him in the fight. He then changed strategies and resulted in using his finger rockets. Caesar couldn’t reflect those. The tides now turned in Mechagodzilla’s favor.

Namara, Masako and the Dr. stormed into the control room. However, they were caught in a shower of red laser beams and handcuffed. They were forced to watch as King Caesar failed against Mechagodzilla. The Chief Simian gloated as he thanked the Dr. for fixing the Robot. However, Namara had a plan to escape. His ring unrolled into a skeleton key which he began to use to pick his handcuffs.

King Caesar was in trouble, as Mechagodzilla tried to choke him by forcing his metal hand into his mouth while doubling by karate chopping the back of his head, over and over again. When King Caesar was thrown to the ground he couldn’t get back up. Mechagodzilla then readied his rockets to finish off the job. But then suddenly, a massive tidal wave came in from the ocean, signifying that a large creature had just swum in. Who would it be to challenge Mechagodzilla now that Anguirus, Godzilla and King Caesar had failed? Would it be Mothra, or one of the other survivors from Monster Island? No…rising out of the sea was non-other than Godzilla himself, ALIVE!!!

It was clear that Godzilla was the second monster due to appear from the Prophesy. It was also clear that he was pissed off and ready for Round 2. The Chief Simian was surprised that the Monster King survived. He gave a simple order to Mechagodzilla.

“Beat Godzilla to Death.”

Godzilla approached Mechagodzilla slowly and was ready to fight. The clash of Godzilla’s was on. Mechagodzilla readied his rockets, but Godzilla spat his breath before the cyborg had the chance. The robot flew out of the way causing Godzilla to inadvertently strike King Caesar. The robot then flew toward Godzilla and shot him with his lasers. Godzilla went down.

As Mechagodzilla shot at his organic original, King Caesar looked up. He seemed to be inspired by Godzilla’s strength in joining in the fight. He must’ve been the second monster to aid him in the battle. Plus, he was feeling left out of the fight. He quickly sprang to his feet. However, before he could attack, Mechagodzilla’s head spun around. Though Godzilla was able to get to his feet, Mechagodzilla had his rockets ready for Godzilla. While shooting at King Caesar with his lasers, Mechagodzilla shot his missiles at the surrounding area to intimidate Godzilla.

Godzilla tried running towards him, but was hit by the missiles. But as he went down his spat his breath at Mechagodzilla allowing him time to get back up. But then, Mechagodzilla’s head started spinning. As it spun, it generated an energy wave that completely covered Mechagodzilla’s body in a shield. Godzilla’s breath couldn’t pierce it, and he couldn’t reach into it without being hurt.

Meanwhile Namara had picked his handcuffs, while the Doctor had separated his pipe into two pieces. You see, his pipe was a very special invention of his. The two pieces were opposing magnetic poles. It was designed that when both poles were placed at different ends of a computer consoles, Magnetic waves would overload the positive and negative electrodes, destroying the machine. Miyajima then passed Namara the two pieces and told him at the right moment, to throw them both to opposing ends of the computer terminals.

After cornering both Godzilla and King Caesar into the same place, Mechagodzilla decided it was time to end the battle. The Mechanical monster unloaded nearly all of its ammunition firing all its weapons at once. Godzilla did his best to try and shield King Caesar from the blasts. Both monsters helped the other up when he fell. But it was no use, they couldn’t get near Mechagodzilla. But Godzilla tried wandering forward. Mechagodzilla shot his lasers at him before taking off to the sky. He shot at Godzilla from above.

The battle would soon be over, as the people witnessed something that rarely happened. Godzilla was bleeding! Only once had he ever bled, and that was against Gigan. And now clearly, Mechagodzilla was more powerful. He continued shooting his lasers at Godzilla’s neck. Godzilla’s blood began to spurt out of the growing wounds on his neck. Another blast and Godzilla went down to the ground. After more abuse from Mechagodzilla, Godzilla eventually stopped trying to get up. The Monster King was down. But Mechagodzilla wasn’t finished with him as he shot his final five finger missiles at Godzilla. Instead of exploding, they embedded themselves in Godzilla’s flesh. He was doomed…But the Monster King wasn’t done yet. He had one last trick up his sleeve.

Getting back up, Godzilla showed a face that would not accept defeat. He planned on saving this technique for a fight against Ghidrah, but now was the perfect time. Godzilla’s body began to glow blue as the finger missiles were expunged from his chest. Sparks then began to shoot from Godzilla’s back. Yes folks; Godzilla was the creature that was caught in the storm over Monster Island. It was one of his many attempts to train himself to become lightning resilient for the battle against lightning using opponents. And now, it was time to put the fruits of his training to good use.

Suddenly, two electric cable towers began floating toward Godzilla and attached themselves to his chest. Godzilla had magnetically attracted them. Now Mechagodzilla was being pulled toward Godzilla while trying desperately to fly away. The Simians couldn’t believe what Godzilla had just done. As you’ll learn, this was the first time Godzilla ever utilized an attack called the Atomic Shockwave.

Eventually Mechagodzilla was completely pulled in. Godzilla had him in his grasp and would never let go. Mechagodzilla tried to take off, but Godzilla’s excess weight kept him on the ground. It was right when King Caesar got up that Godzilla made it clear that the robot wasn’t going anywhere. Caesar then ran at Mechagodzilla full speed, ramming his entire body into the robot, denting it. The monster repeated the process over and over again clearly ripping into Mechagodzilla’s armor.

When he stopped, Godzilla began pounding on the robot. He grabbed Mechagodzilla’s head and began twisting it around against the gyros in the head. Eventually, Godzilla twisted it completely around and the head popped off. Mechagodzilla was defeated.
Namara then threw the poles toward the consol and shot the Simian commander. The computer began to overload and blow up. The three men then had to escape. Godzilla held onto Mechagodzilla’s body as the inner mechanisms inside exploded creating a huge hole in the robot’s chest and showing the area in pieces of Space Titanium. Godzilla fell into the ocean however but was alright. He and Caesar had won. The simian’s base was destroyed and Mechagodzilla was gone. The explosion had also knocked the robot into the ocean as well.

Godzilla went back to sea and King Caesar to his hiding place. As the mountain caved in around him, he kept his eyes on Godzilla. It seemed that King Caesar wasn’t ready to rest after his battle allied with the King of all Monsters. He would certainly be of use to Godzilla in the future. But for now, his time of need was over. But now that he was awakened, he had free will of his own.

It was incredible when America learned that Godzilla had survived. It was astounding. It was clear that now Godzilla would never again be bet against.

The world was now relieved that Mechagodzilla was gone. A monster like that could’ve destroyed the entire world within a few weeks. But now, the Simians were defeated and Mechagodzilla was destroyed…but as you’re about to see…it wasn’t destroyed beyond repair.
